A typical 4-hour session is usually spent in a single space, but on occasion, it gets split between two areas of the home. In this case, the first 2 hours were spent honing the kitchen. You see, my client loves to cook and has even started a new cheese-making hobby! Needless to say, there are many things needing reasonable homes in a small kitchen, a common struggle among my clients. I value my client’s feedback about how a space could suit their needs better, so getting it just right was of the utmost importance.
But this post isn’t about a kitchen! It’s about a Master closet and vanity!
I hesitate to start new projects that I know we won’t have time to finish, but I really wanted to help my client make some progress in her bedroom. So, we tackled part of the Master closet (her clothes only. We left Husband’s for another day), and I worked independently on the bathroom vanity and under the sink (sadly, no actual before/after photos of that one. You’ll just have to take my word for it. It was pretty fantastic.)
The Struggle
- Out-dated, ill-fitting, and wrong-sized clothes
- An unusable bathroom sink/vanity that had been lost under shopping bags, towels, and various beauty products
- Expired meds, many hotel-sized toiletries, and long forgotten beauty products
- Empty the closet completely and only keep clothes that are in good-repair, fit well, and are generally liked
- Dispose of expired meds and very old beauty products
- Keep only a small selection of hotel toiletries for guests
- Sort beauty products, hair products, and healthcare products and store under the sink in clear, labeled bins
- Reserve the countertop for one container of daily hygiene items (future plans include a medicine cabinet or open shelves)
We didn’t quite make it to the shoes, but in just 2-hours, this Master closet and vanity went from unusable and jam-packed to functional!
